Happy Tails
If you've adopted a pet that we've transported, either through us
directly or through a shelter we've worked with, please send us a pictures
and a story and we'll post it!
Lola
Lola
is one of the twenty-eight puppies rescued from euthanasia at a shelter in
Mississippi. Nearly all the pups contracted parvo and all but three we
were able to treat and survived! This little gal had found a home
with a volunteer from Vermont, Ashley. But when Ashley was ready to leave Biloxi, Lola was too sick to travel. A few weeks later,
she was stronger and Brogan transported her and several other dogs to the
Northeast when she left Biloxi. Amy and Bill were ready and waiting for
Lola!
Lola has adapted well to her new climate and her new "siblings".
Simon, the Jack Russell and Graham, the Hound Mix keep Lola in line all three
get plenty of exercise playing together!
Santa thought of Lola at Christmas and gave her this nice warm
coat for the cold Vermont winters!

Leala
Leala
is one of Pumpkin's puppies. Her new family reports in that she is doing
just great! After a long bout with parvo-virus as a puppy she finally
arrived with her new family a bit underweight, but eager to please and full of
puppy kisses! Looks like living in snow country suits her just fine!

Butkus
Butkus
is one of the pups that were "adopted" by one of our nursing mothers, Daisy. On top of her own litter, Daisy took on a few extra pups!
For Rick and Erin, Butkus has been a welcome addition to their family!
He is a very spoiled, "only dog"! We hear that he is quite a socialite and
enjoys his trips to the dog park and playing with other dogs. Butkus is brindle colored, which means he looks a bit like he has tiger
stripes! Friends and neighbors love his coloring, and Butkus just loves
everyone. He is very smart and loves to learn new tricks.
Now that Butkus is a bit older, he has chosen his favorite
football team. Looks like he has turned out to be a big Bears fan. Could this have something to do with his name??
Pumpkin
Please
meet Pumpkin! She came to Triple R Pets through a rescue in Mississippi.
Pumpkin and her puppies had a rough start to their new lives. The shelter
was known for having rats large enough to eat young puppies so one of the
volunteers at the shelter took Pumpkin and her puppies home. Three weeks
later they made the long drive north to Chicago with us. Pumpkin was
heartworm positive and went through a round of treatment that left her weak,
recovered from mange that left her coat thin, but her spirit was sweet and
loving and she and Triple R Pets never gave up on finding the perfect family for
Pumpkin. Finally, the right home came along. The following is a note
from her new Mom ...

Pumpkin has adjusted well to her new home and despite our plans when we
brought her home, she is now sleeping with us, sits on the couch, and has
claimed the house as her own. Luckily, she is very well behaved and does not
chew stuff or make messes. She does grab the occasional shoe or glove and runs
when she wants to play or get attention, but only to say "Come get me!" We walk
her every morning and night so she is helping us get our exercise too. We are
curious to see how she will react to the snow when it comes, but so far, the
colder weather has not kept her from enjoying her walks!
She still is fighting Heart worm and will be getting another round of
treatment since the first one did not get rid of it. After bringing her home,
she had more problems with mange and a hot spot, which we had treated through
our local vet, but now that has subsided. She has gained weight so that you no
longer see her ribs and the people who cared for her at Glen Ellyn animal
hospital that have seen her since we adopted her say she looks healthy and
happy. I would agree, because she has become much more active since we brought
her home.
Pumpkin
was an answer to our prayers! She is a source of joy in our lives. Plus, it is
nice to know we helped an animal in need. Sometimes she looks like she is
feeling sad, and I think she might be thinking of her past, but then when I go
to pet her, she wags her tail as if to say she's happy in her new home.
She has certainly become part of the family!
Thanks to everyone at Triple R who has taken part in Pumpkin being
rescued so
she could be part of our family!
Regards,
Roseann Grutzius
Sippi
Sippi
is one of the three Lab / Mastiff pups that came up from Mississippi last March.
After four weeks in quarantine with a foster family, they were vet cleared and
ready for adoption. Three wonderful families were found ... but for these
pups, they were not home free yet. A rough bout with Parvo nearly claimed
their lives, but these little fighters did not give up!
After almost two weeks in the care of the wonderful staff at Glen Ellyn
Animal Hospital, they were ready to go home! Sippi found her way to the
Siepka's. Two very excited children finally brought home their new puppy. Today, Sippi is about fifty pounds and still growing! She has remained mellow and loving.
Triple R Pets extends a big thank you to the Siepka's for their patienc as
Sippy recovered and for providing such a wonderful home for this very lucky pup!

Dexter Lee (one of the Leland pups - mother is Pumpkin)
Dexter
Lee had a rough start down in Mississippi. He and his littermates and
mother were at a shelter that has rats so big, puppies sometimes disappear (and
no, we are not making this up). Linda, a volunteer at the shelter was so
taken with this Mama (Pumpkin) and her litter that she took them all home and
kept them safe until Triple R Pets could provide a transport to the Chicago
area. Once in Chicago, the puppies were diagnosed with every parasite
known to the dog world - including sarcoptic mange - and if that all was not
enough, they contracted parvo three weeks after they arrived. With a great
deal of attention, they were nursed back to health and now have wonderful furr-ever
homes throughout the Chicago area.
Dexter Lee has one of the more unique families ... he is the big brother to
Mordecahi Bunny, Fremont Guinea and Seymour Butts ... three loving RABBITS.

Bayou (formerly Marc)
My name is Claudette, and I was fortunate to receive a puppy from a Triple R
Pets rescue in Pearl River, Mississippi.
I was originally looking for a small, female dog, as that is what I have had
all my life. At the time, there were none available, yet I noticed "Marc's"
picture and was convinced he was the dog for me. He looked so sad and lonely and
I just couldn't resist. I showed his picture to my father and he said, "Cute,
but look at those paws!"
Bayou, his new name symbolizing his origin, arrived in late February, and I
just fell in love with him. I truly believe he knows that he was rescued and
brought into a loving environment. Bayou comes to work with me every day. His
baby sister Willow, a 5-month-old West Highland Terrier, and he became fast
friends and are inseparable. He truly is the gentle giant. Bayou has completed
Puppy K and Basic Training 1 and will continue with some additional training
classes. Attached are a few pictures since his adoption in late February. He has
grown to be a very big boy, quite spoiled, whines a bit too much and his actions
somewhat resemble those of Marley's, from the best-selling novel, (i.e. pulling
the wallpaper off the wall, jumping through the screen door, chewing everything
in sight including the bottom of the wood panel sub-zero refrigerator), but what
can you expect from a nine month old puppy!
He definitely is a lot more dog then I expected; however he keeps me on my
toes and I can't imagine my life without him. My father passed away this past
July, and, although he called Bayou a pony, Dad had a soft spot for him, and I
truly believe that Bayou was sent to watch over me now that my Dad is gone.
Thank you Triple R Pets for doing what you do and for bringing Bayou into my
life.
Sincerely,
Claudette Zarzycki and Bayou
Max (formerly known as Cosmo)
Little
Max was one Queenie's puppies. He met his furr-ever family at the PetExpo
in Arlington and went to live with them the following week. Max has a new
friend, named Mollie. Mollie dotes on Max and even shares her bed with
him!

El
de Gonzo Roo Roo
(aka LD aka Lucky Dog)
This basset / corgie mix was surrended to Triple R representatives back in
October. After spending a month with Gulfport resident Kathy Smith, Lucky
Dog, or LD as we called him, went to live with the Bill family in Illinois until
we could find him the perfect furr-ever home. Living up to his name, LD
found the home of his dreams and now has two boys to call his own.
He is now called El de Gonzo Roo Roo, which also seems to suit him (check out those ears!).
He is also famous for "talking" to you via a roo-roo noise! Below, is a picture of Kim with Tristan, Luca and Gonzo on his "Gotcha Day" -
Bill-speak for his adoption day!!

Nittany
This little girl went to Pennsylvania with a group of volunteers who
helped transport dogs half-way to their final destination in Maine, and who also
brought some dogs to their local area for some loving families.
As you can see, Nittany has made a great transition from a shelter to a
loving family! We don't think she is lacking any attention!!
Bradley
Probably one of our most famous pups, Bradley found his way to a
wonderful family in the Chicagoland area. He is a proud member of his new
pack ... some might say the leader of the pack!
Bradley went through quite a lot to recover from his Mississippi experience,
so he needed a family that would be patient as he grew and provide him
unconditional love. Her certainly found it!
The best part is that Bradley's new family always welcomes visitors from
Triple R who cared for Bradley and love to be able to watch him grow!
Here is an updated picture of Bradley taken on 5-4-06:
