Triple R Pets in the News - Chicagoland TNR Program Continues to Grow

If only we had census data for the Chicagoland Feral Cat Population!

As the cold months quickly approach, the Triple R Pets hotline is ringing with requests from caretakers for support in Trap Neuter Return for their colony. Programs are in full swing in the Beverly area as well as several other neighborhoods and suburbs.

Some recent newspaper articles can be read by clicking the links below:

How can you help? Hands on field assistance is needed. What a great chance to catch up on your reading while you watch a trap on a Saturday morning! We have some mass-traps planned in the coming weeks and can use some extra hands. We'll provide the equipment, hands-on training and the chance to meet some new friends (human and furry). Visit our volunteer page for more information.

You can also donate to cover the cost of TNR for a cat. A complete feral cat TNR package is $40 and includes surgery, pain medication, vaccinations, ear-tipping, wound care, de-worming, ear cleaning and so on. It is a very comprehensive package that provides much needed care for these animals and the all-important surgery to prevent more unwanted litters of kitterns. Plus a three-year rabies vaccinations that is good for everyone!

October 20 - Wine and Animal Lover's Fundraiser a Success!

Thanks to all our friends and supports for coming out to Tinley Park for our 1st Annual Wine and Animal Lover's Fundraiser. We made some new friends and enjoyed catching up with folks we know!

Thanks to your support, we were able to raise enough funds to TNR 30 more cats! Did you know that we are accounting in the cat monetary unit these days?

With winter approaching, we are trying to complete as many colonies as we can. We do very limited trapping during the colder months in Chicago, as a shaved belly is not very warm!

Some wonderful prizes were raffled and bid on at the silent auction. We have a lucky couple heading downtown for a night on Michigan Avenue, a party of ten enjoying a wine tasting at Coopers Hawk and lots of other fun prizes.

We have already had lots of requests to make this a semi-annual fundraiser! We'll start looking for some Spring dates soon!

If you missed the event, you can always make a donation on-line to help the animals. If you would like to volunteer, please visit our volunteer page.

We are very grateful to our wonderful hosts at WineStyles Tinley Park. Dave, Ian and Emily were wonderful! I think they enjoyed the event as much as the guests with wonderful conversation and delicous snacks. Please visit WineStyles Tinley Park for your holiday wine purchases!

October 16 is National Feral Cat Day

All across the country, feral cats are being celebrated! The TNR movement continues to gain ground as local villages, humane societie and animal control organizations learn that TNR is a proven solution. TNR programs reduce the number of kittens brought into already over-crowded shelters and provide a healthy life for the cats in the neighborhood.
